Baby girl has made it to home plate!

Nick and JoAnna Garcia Swisher have reportedly welcomed their first child.

The first baseman for the Cleveland Indians, 32, was put on the teams’ paternity list (mandatory one to three-days leave) Tuesday, revealing the happy news.

He and his actress wife, 33, announced in November that they were expecting a baby, later revealing to PEOPLE their upcoming arrival had the couple thinking pink.

“I am so excited. I never in a million years thought I’d have a little girl, but over the last six months, the pink and purple dresses that I’ve bought,” Swisher joked in an interview last week.

“My wife says, ‘You’re going to spoil that little girl so much.’ I talk to her every night. We’re only a couple weeks out now. Jo and I, we’re so excited to meet her and to bring her in the world and give her a whole heap of love. It’s that life-altering moment that I need. I’ve been cruising along. I’ve got a beautiful wife — she’s my best friend. I’ve got a great job and a beautiful home, and now it’s time to be a dad.”

“We’re so fortunate,” he adds. “We just want her to be healthy. I want her to be exactly like my wife.”

It’ll Be a Girl for Nick and JoAnna Garcia Swisher
Written by on January 14th, 2013

This spring will bring more than just May flowers for Nick and JoAnna Garcia Swisher — the couple will welcome a baby girl that month as well, they confirm to PEOPLE exclusively.

“I’m just so excited,” the outfielder and first baseman, 32, told PEOPLE at the InStyle/Warner Brothers Golden Globes after-party on Sunday. “As long as she’s healthy, that’s all I really care about.”

As for the mommy-to-be, 33, the former Animal Practice star is just enjoying the “honeymoon stage” of her pregnancy after a “humbling” week of being “really into mayonnaise.”

“I tried to put it on everything but that faded,” Garcia Swisher, who was wearing a Sachin + Babi dress and Marina B. jewelry, explains. “Now I’m just trying to eat healthy and you know, the further I get in the pregnancy the more I need to eat!”

With Swisher — who recently wrapped a stint with the New York Yankees — accepting an offer to play for the Cleveland Indians, the expectant parents have been busy prepping three different nurseries for their bundle of joy.

“My husband works in one city, I work in a second city and we live in a third city, so we have a lot of cribs to buy,” the actress shares.

And though they’ve got several more months to go, the couple can’t wait to meet their daughter.

“It’s been a wonderful journey for us to be able to do this together,” says Swisher. “It’s going to be great. In a couple of months, our lives are going to turn upside-down.”

“Animal Practice” Cancelled
Written by on October 18th, 2012

EW.com is reporting that “Animal Practice” has been cancelled.

Animal Practice will be replaced by season two of Whitney starting Nov. 14, which means fans of the wacky veterinarian hospital comedy still get to see a few more episodes before its gone. Whitney does make more sense as a companion for Guys With Kids than Community since they’re both traditional “multi-camera”-style comedies (you know, CBS-like sitcoms). Production on Animal Practice is being halted this week after the eighth episode wraps (five have aired, three to go).

The last episode of “Animal Practice” will air on November 7th!
